In addition, the prices are very reasonable ($15.99 per person for lunch and $24.99 for dinner) which makes this place a good value if you are in the mood for sushi. I ate lunch here with my two youngest daughters at about noon on a Friday in early April and thought the food was good. The restaurant is larger so there were lots of tables and booths to sit in. Since it is in a strip mall there are lots of parking spaces close to the front door. Kyoto Sushi is an all you can eat Japanese sushi restaurant and is located next to a JC Penny in a strip Mall near the corner of I-94 and Weaver Lake Road in Maple Grove. I feel as if it has certainly gone downhill since then. It's ashame because i have been here a couple of times before and had good experiences. Just my opinion of course but i doubt i will go back. It makes more sense to me to not allow guests who arrive at 3 to order off the all you can eat but when you arrive before hand, i disagree. I also at this point question the "rule" of no more orders after lunch is over. The food tasted good as well i just have to question the cleanliness of the kitchen and food with so many flies. In the end i would say the server was good at being attentive to our drinks and taking our additional orders when my son and i arrived earlier. It doesn't make for a great experience when you are having to swat flies and fruit flies away from your food. I also want mention that besides the fruit flies, once our food arrived we also had flies. I had asked if we could take it and she said yes but then proceeded to clean the table and pile plates on top of our uneaten sushi.

I know and understand the logic behind not taking anything to go at an all you can eat but in this case, we were forced to guess at what we could eat instead of ordering a couple of rolls at a time. I had hoped they would let us take it instead of letting it go to waste however, this was not the case. Also, they have a coupon online but won't accept it if it's not printed. I found this to be very unfortunate for them. I helped them choose some sushi rolls they might like.

My other concern was that we would over do it and have wasted food. No chance of order a couple of kinds of sushi at a time and discovering what you like. Unfortunate because you feel like you have to choose from the menu as much as you think you can eat and they had no idea what they wanted to try the pressure was on. She again told us last call.so i again asked her if she was saying that they had to order anything they wanted right then and there to which she said yes. To make sure i was understanding her, i asked her if she was telling us that in 10 minutes we would no longer be able to order for the all you can eat.

She kept telling us last call.which meant our guests who just arrived only had, by now, 10 minutes before they would no longer serve all you can eat. It was at that point the server told us lunch is over at 3:00 so i again questioned her to make sure i understood the price but she was not understanding what i was asking and i wasn't quite understanding what she was trying to communicate.

We probably should have left but i have been to this place before and had a good experience and we were waiting on other family members who were meeting us for lunch. While waiting, i noticed fruit flies which is concerning. We then continued on with our order for the all you can eat. I assumed she had relayed this information to us because of the change in price for dinner hours so to be sure i asked her if we were still there at 3:00 we would still pay the lunch price and she said yes. I visited today with family for the all you can eat sushi, my son and i arrived at 2:15 and were told lunch is done at 3:00.
